Parents, Teachers & Speaking

Invite G.Rosemary Live or Virtual   to your School.

As a former teacher I understand how important it is to have visiting speakers fit within the parameters set for the class. Before a visit I like to speak with the teacher to find out what will be most valuable for me to talk about?

What needs developing in the children’s writing? what excites them? how can I increase their enthusiasm for reading? In this way I can be sure that a maximum benefit will be achieved from my visit.

Prior Discussion.

What do you hope to achieve from the visit – A special theme running at the school which I should tap into – Numbers and ages of each group – Group exercises and/or Setting class exercises for later – Facility where visit will be – Library. Classroom. Cafeteria. Gym – Availability of audio/visual equipment and log ins – Accessibility and timing on visit day – Book pre-sales order forms – Promotion to Parents – Each book has a PDF Suggested Lesson Ideas Plan, downloadable from website.

K – 2     Story telling. Importance of Reading in our lives. What is a story. What stories do
you tell. Read a story I have written.
3 – 5     The power of writing, your communications.
3 – 7     Talk about my books and the general premise of them.
4 – 7     The procedure  in writing a book.(examples and class exercises for each grade.)
Characterization and back stories – Research of your subject. Very important – How will the characters react in different circumstances of your story – You’ve finished a first draft. Now comes editing. Using correct words. Is there any plot holes. Finding a more precise word. Is the punctuation correct. Look for overused words.
Then, professional editing. Finding a publisher. Self-publishing.
