A Very Good Author to Read

http://www.kellybarnhill.com/

If you’re looking for a different sort of adventure story, I would recommend you find a book written by Kelly Barnhill. I have read two of her books now and I have thoroughly enjoyed both of them. Her characters are unusual. You don’t always like them but you can see that what they are doing is for the best. They are beset by many trials and must bravely face down many obstacles. I wanted them to win every step of the way. The worlds she creates for her characters to move in are just different enough, so that you know it’s not your world, but you have a sneaking suspicion that if the clothes and houses were different it could very much be your world. The two books that I read are called. The Witch’s Boy and Iron Hearted Violet. If you do read them let me know what you think.I’d love to hear your opinion. (G.Rosemary Ludlow 27th May2017)

  1. Carole Are the stories connected like a series? Are there other authors that you think would be interesting to read?

    • G. Rosemary The two of her books that I mentioned are not connected. Each stands on its own and is a different universe. Asking about other authors is a very open ended question. There are so many. In children's adventure stories I am reading Rick Riordan at the moment. I've enjoyed every book of his I have ever read. In adult fiction it is so much a matter of what you enjoy. My advice. Go to the library, pick books that look interesting at random. You don't have to finish reading them if you don't like them. I make it a point to choose one book written by an author I have never read before each time I visit the library. I've found some wonderful writers this way. Books I would never have looked at without my rule have transported me to places I would never have gone.
